Union Station Power House | Yuli Wang, Mila Zhang

Chicago Union Station Power House is an abandoned industrial building located on the west bank of the southern branch of the Chicago River, facing problems such as aging structures, being surrounded by railways and rivers, and poor surrounding environment. It is a witness to Chicago ’s glorious industrial and railroad history, and the government is calling for its transformation and reuse.

According to Chicago's future planning for the surrounding area, we started with the transformation of function, and made the design in terms of building structure, site landscape, and accessibility improvement, hoping to reactivate this area with rich historical significance. Its role as a museum and a place for public events will become one of the important attractions of the Chicago South Branch, providing people with an urban public space that understands industrial history, railroad history, and daily activities.
