UD 722 Synergies
Instructed by Christina Hansen
Winter 2019

Synergies investigates the imaginative capacity of visions for Detroit’s future urbanism by understanding the city through the lens of water. In a City with 21% vacancy — the studio positions the consideration of urban storm water and waste water management as a key tool for creative design strategies that encourage nested, profound approaches and interdisciplinary collaboration. The research of the studio will bring together regional analyses of the systems of water infrastructure, and the physical, regulatory and cultural forces that shape Detroit’s contemporary urban condition.
