we resort to interdisciplinary relevance, and bridge conversations across a multitude of media with an urban lens.

An Ancient Building in Mount Emei

Mount Emei Sichuan, CN
Mount Emei is one of the ”four most famous Buddhist mountains” in China, located in the Southwest of China. All the buildings, statues there show the rich flavor of religious culture. When I visited those ancient buildings in Mount Emei, I happened to catch this stunning scene. I was struck by the delicate details and unique architectural form of the building, and the flowing light makes it more vivid and beautiful. At that moment, I felt as if I could glimpse the beauty and prosperity of ancient China.

The Beauty of Yana

The caves located near Yana village are about 50kms drive from Gokarna, India. Deep within the forests and meandering streams we suddenly come across the two needle sharp monolith rocks recklessly punching their way through the greenery. The taller of the two rocks at 120 metres is the Bhairaveshwara Shikhara and the slightly smaller one at 90 metres is called the Mohini Shikhara. The mighty rocks have been roughened by the vagaries of burning Sun, uncontrolled winds and torrential rains. Yana is also well known as a pilgrimage centre because of the cave temple below the Bhairaveshwara Shikhara where a self manifested linga has been formed with the water dripping from the roof adding to its sanctity.

The Guide To A Spiritual Balance

By inducing the shapes of geometry, mandalas have their own form of beauty. They guide and soothe the soul of the practitioner of meditation for establishing a scared trance. The circular piece is used as a healing process and which helps in promoting mindfulness and attention. It is also known as the representation of the unconscious self. The act of creating a mandala represents the transformation of the universe from a reality of suffering to one of enlightenment. Mandalas also have a deep connection in the development of patience through its making. The shapes and sizes of all the elements contribute to the beauty and the definition of the diagram.

The Zestful Mountains

Rajghad hike in Pune has been the most engaging and well connected of all our senses. The vast patches of green served as a soothing treatment to our eyes. We could clearly listen to the birds singing while we made our way up to the fort. The trail was very slippery and more so the rocks were steep which made it difficult. An eclectic mixture of flowers of varying colours peppered the trail. The true beauty was when we reached the top. The clouds were at our level, some of them literally passing by us and sopping in the process. The beauty of the hills amidst the fertile landscape during the rainy season was really a sight to be seen, for words fail to describe it in its entirety.

Greetings from the beach!

Sanibel, FL US

Greetings from the beach! Just kidding there are too many people on the beach these days to go due to COVID. These images are from one of my favorite places - Sanibel, Florida. Instead, I stay inside in the AC and do productive things (or I try)! I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and getting some sunshine :)

Kashmiri set loose!

Ann Arbor, MI US

Born and raised in Kashmir, I am a woman from a territory of conflict.

My life revolves around my hometown but the challenge of understanding it took me to other parts of the globe. Sometimes it takes a little more exploration, a little more courage and strength to dream bigger.

Through my journey, I implore you to do some wishful thinking on your own pathways. What makes you who you are? How are you contributing as a global citizen? What is your story?

To: people who can’t wait to get rid of the new normal!

Ann Arbor, MI US

Greetings from the island of Wayo Wayo! I guess many of you might feel the same way as me, thinking that as the curve is flatten day by day, it seems reasonable to start pulling the mushrooms out of your body and spend some time stewing them in a pot of Chowder with your loved ones. This world is insane. Tons of people are losing their friends and families due to a lot of unexpected reasons. So besides staying healthy and wearing your mask as tightly as you can, I think it’s also a great moment for us to really embrace the people who are still around you. Of course, we are going to meet in person pretty soon. However before that, please live your best life no matter where you are in the world right now.
